Conversational Spanish classes
Lessons built around speaking, not worksheets. You talk for most of the hour about your week, your plans and whatever you need Spanish for, and your tutor corrects you as you go and keeps the words you trip over for next time. In person in Auckland and Wellington or online, from a $25 trial.

Who are conversational Spanish classes for?
People who understand more Spanish than they can say, anyone who finished an app streak and still freezes when spoken to, and travellers or partners of Spanish speakers who need to keep up at the dinner table. In a group class you might speak for a few minutes an hour; one to one, most of the hour is yours.
- People who understand more than they can say
- App learners who freeze in a real conversation
- Partners and in-laws of Spanish speakers
- Anyone with a trip coming up
What happens in a Spanish conversation lesson?
Your tutor picks topics from your life, lets you talk, and steps in with the word you were reaching for. Recurring mistakes go into a short list after each lesson, and grammar comes in only when a mistake keeps coming back. Beginners can do this too: the topics are simpler and the tutor talks slower.
Your topics, not a textbook's
Your week, your job, the trip, the family you are trying to talk to. Your tutor builds the lesson around what you will actually say.
Corrections that stick
Your tutor notes the mistakes you keep making and sends them after the lesson, so you are not corrected for the same thing every week.
Grammar on demand
When the same slip keeps coming back, your tutor stops and explains it in five minutes, then you go back to talking.
Which Spanish levels do you teach?
We teach 4 levels, A1 to B2: from introducing yourself and ordering food at A1 up to holding a real conversation with native speakers at B2. Your tutor confirms where you are in your first lesson and tells you what comes next.
- A1Order a coffee, say who you are, ask for directions
- A2Get around on holiday, talk about your week
- B1Chat with your partner's family, follow a slow podcast
- B2Hold a real conversation, work in Spanish
Questions about conversation classes
Am I good enough for conversation classes?
If you can introduce yourself and say a few sentences about your week, yes. Complete beginners can still have conversation-led lessons; your tutor keeps the topics simple and speaks slowly. The level test gives you a rough idea in two minutes.
Is a conversation class better than a group class for speaking?
For speaking time, yes. In a group of eight to twelve learners you might speak for a few minutes in an hour. One to one, you speak for most of it. Groups are cheaper per hour and some people like the company.
Can I choose the accent?
Yes. Tell us whether you want Spanish from Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia or elsewhere, and we match you with a tutor who speaks it.
How often should I have a conversation lesson?
Once a week keeps you improving; twice a week is quicker if you have a trip or a move coming up. A 10-lesson pack can be used at either pace within 6 months.
